How to Use AI with Prompts

A prompt is the message you send to AI. The better your prompt, the better the answer. Think of it as giving clear instructions to a very smart helper.

Define your goal

Before you type anything, ask yourself: what do I want? A summary? A story? Code? A plan? Clear goals lead to clear prompts.

Give context

Tell AI who you are and why you need it. "I am a student writing a report on climate change" gives AI important context to help you better.

Be specific

Say exactly what you want. Mention the length, format, tone, and language. "Write a 200-word summary in simple English" is better than "Write a summary."

Iterate and improve

If the answer is not right, do not give up. Change your prompt. Ask AI to rewrite, improve, or simplify. Every revision makes the output better.

Prompt Engineering

Prompt engineering is the skill of writing prompts that get the best results from AI. It is a superpower. Anyone can learn it. The better you write prompts, the more powerful AI becomes for you.

Anatomy of a Perfect Prompt

Every great prompt has these parts
ROLE
"You are an expert data scientist..." — Give AI a role to play. It shifts its entire approach.
TASK
"Analyze this data and find trends..." — Be clear about what you want done. One task at a time works best.
CONTEXT
"The audience is high school students..." — Give background. AI uses context to tailor the answer perfectly.
FORMAT
"Reply in 5 bullet points. Keep it under 200 words..." — Tell AI exactly how to structure the output.
EXAMPLE
"For example: 'Solar energy is cheap and clean.'" — Show AI one example of what you want. It copies the style.
